Different
installation techniques can be used when installing Clone Stone
to further achieve a particular look or feel. Standard installation
is ½ inch grout joints. Options include; Tight fit, where stones
are placed tightly together with mortar between stones; Flush
grouted, where joints are grouted full or flush with the stones
surface; or Mortar Washed, where mortar is washed across the
entire surface of the stones to create an Old World look. Talk
to a Clone Stone representative for all installation possibilities.

Typical
installation of Clone Stone Veneers use a 1/2" mortar
joint between stones. Overall look of installation can
be enhanced using a color additive to the mortar. Tight
fit application (no mortar between stones) can be used
with most stones if desired. |

When
applying Clone Stone over wood, drywall, or other
non-masonry surfaces, use the following order:
1. Wood or other non-masonry surface.
2. Metal lath (over weather barrier if needed).
3. Mortar scratch coat.
4. Apply Clone Stone.
5. Grout between stones (non tight fit application). |

When
applying Clone Stone to masonry surfaces such as
unpainted stucco, cinder block, brick, or concrete,
use the following order:
1. Masonry surface.
2. Mortar scratch coat (this helps smooth out rough
surfaces and colored mortar will hide the wall behind
the stone that may be noticeable through spaces
between stones in a tight fit application).
3. Apply Clone Stone.
4. Grout between stones (non tight fit application). |
